IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PLAYERS AND FAMILIES

30 Jul 2021 by Stephen Dimit

Welcome to the start of the 2021 Fall Sports Season! I have put together some very important information for players and families regarding schedules and tryouts. Please review it carefully so that you have the information you need to plan ahead.

FALL SCHEDULES
Schedules are posted to the Team App for Varsity and Junior Varsity. Training sessions and games are included up to the end of the season. To access schedules, use the Team App (or website), access SCHEDULES and select VARSITY or JUNIOR VARSITY. These are accessible to all.

Notes:
- If the Varsity team qualifies for the state playoffs, more dates will be added for that team up to November 13.
- If we form a third team, that schedule will be built and added in mid-to-late August.
- Schedules are subject to changes that are not always in our control.

TRYOUT SCHEDULE
Monday is split into two sessions: 11/12 grade is 3:15-5:00. 9/10 grade is 5:00-6:45. The annual fall sports parent meeting is at 7:00, which includes a presentation from the athletic director to all parents and a breakout session for soccer that follows.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be one session for all athletes, 3:15-5:00. At the end of Wednesday’s session, we will inform players in person of the roster decisions and whether they have made a team.

Notes:
- Athletes are expected to attend all three days of tryouts. If an athlete is injured or absent, they are still required to contact the coach.
- Athletes must be completely registered with the NHS office in order to try out. This includes a current sports physical, obtained through a clinic or your family doctor.

TRYOUTS AND PLAYER PLACEMENT
Like many other high school sports, soccer has a tryout process. We are not able to offer a roster position to every athlete that tries out. Players will get three days of tryouts to show their best in fitness, skill, game understanding, and speed of play. We will use the information we gather from tryouts to form teams of appropriate size and skill level.

Notes:
- Any player who does not make a team will be informed in-person by the coaches at the end of the third day of tryouts.
- Players need to earn their roster spot each year, regardless of previous participation.
- Niwot soccer offers many voluntary, free preseason opportunities for players to get in shape, train with other soccer players, and prepare for their tryout. Participation in preseason opportunities does not guarantee placement on a team, nor does it determine your team placement.

FOR MORE INFORMATION
Please use the FILES tab on the Team App or website to view the Niwot Soccer Player and Parent Handbook as well as the SVVSD Athletic Handbook. These have a lot of important information about what you can expect from your season and what the coaches and the school expects from you.

To get regular updates, be sure that you have signed up for the Team App and turned on your preferred notifications. This is how coaches keep you informed throughout the year.
