Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to Niwot Soccer. We hope these common questions and answers help you as you plan for the season!

When are tryouts?

The 2022 tryouts are August 8, 9, 10 at the Niwot soccer fields (east of the school, down the hill). These will be in the late afternoon or evening. Times will be posted on the schedule a few weeks before tryouts. Please note that tryouts are before the first day of school.

What do I need to do to be register for tryouts?

You must register for fall sports with Niwot High School and the school district. This is an online process available at this link. You are also required to have a valid sports physical turned in to the office. If you are turning in a physical copy of the form, we strongly recommend making a copy in case you need it later in the year.

Does everyone make a team?

No. While we give opportunities for as many student-athletes as possible, not every student-athlete makes a team.

How many teams does Niwot have, and who makes which team?

We have three levels: Varsity (open to 9-12 grade), Junior Varsity (open to 9-11 grade), C-Team (open to 9-10 grade). Our Varsity team is made up of the top-performing players who are prepared to compete at the highest level in the region and the state.  Our JV and C-Team offer opportunities for development in soccer at the appropriate skill and physical levels.

When is the fall sports season?

The season begins on August 8 with tryouts and concludes October 22 at the latest. State tournament play for the Varsity team would extend the Varsity season as late as November 12.

When are games?

Games may be held any day, Monday-Saturday. Exact times for each team will be posted to the schedule in the app and on this website.

When are practices?

Practices are after school on non-game weekdays. Exact times for each team will be posted to the schedule in the app and on this website.

Do I need to order jerseys?

No. We will check out uniforms to each rostered player at the beginning of the season. Players do need to provide their own game socks: a solid black pair and a solid white pair (any brand is fine).

Are there buses provided to away games?

Yes, there are buses scheduled for all away games to transport students from Niwot to the match and back. You can choose to drive your student as well, but you do need to follow all district requirements and should pay special attention to this section in your registration for fall sports.

Does Niwot provide opportunities to train before the fall season?

Yes. Niwot Soccer provides opportunities in the summer for interested student-athletes to train with the program (weight room sessions, kickarounds, specific training sessions). These are optional until the start of the fall season.

Does high school soccer season conflict with club soccer?

In almost all cases, the two do not conflict. Club soccer for the high school age groups normally takes place outside of August-November for almost all players. Most Niwot soccer players participate in both with no problem.
