How we manage weather cancellations/postponements

3 Aug 2021 by Stephen Dimit

As we get closer to tryouts, I’ll try to send you some new information each day to help you prepare. Today, let’s talk about weather!

In August/September, the weather often turns quickly around 3:00 into the evening. While we will usually play through rain (games and practices), we always clear the fields for lightning in the area (this would be for at least 30 minutes as the storm passes). If it looks like lightning will force a cancellation or a postponement, we will update using the Team App. There are three ways to get these updates:
1. Download the app to your phone and turn on its notifications.
2. Check your email for the same update, delivered there.
3. Manually open the website https://niwotsoccerboys.teamapp.com/ and read through the updates.

Please note that to have full access to the team information, you’ll need to registered to the app, beginning next Thursday. Until tryouts are concluded, updates will remain public to all.

We don’t rely much on morning weather predictions, because they often change dramatically throughout the day during August/September. This is why it is important to use the app!
