Coach’s Message

We are very excited to start our summer schedule in June! Freshmen and new families, welcome! We are glad to have you here. Summer is full of opportunities to come out to the fields and to build up our soccer community. We’ll have a mix this year: kickarounds, team runs, weight room opportunities, and training camps.

Niwot Soccer is a proud, competitive program in this area. We have earned a place in every state tournament going back decades. We have advanced past the first round of play for the last eight seasons in a row, including playing games in the quarterfinals and semifinals. This is all possible because we have a tradition of playing together in the summer and starting to build early. We hope you will join us, because we know that a strong summer preseason leads to a successful and enjoyable fall season!

Upcoming Events

- Kickarounds will begin on June 17. We will play small and large games on the grass fields, followed by strength training in the weight room.

- Goalkeeper training will begin on June 16. Goalkeepers, please RSVP so that I know how many to plan for!

- On some Monday evenings, we will have a team run — an opportunity to come out and do some fitness together. We will meet at the grass fields, and may stay on the fields or use the trails that cross through campus.

- After a week off over July 4, we will have our first preseason camp sessions. This is open to any of our interested players at no cost. The goal is to put together a series of successful training sessions to introduce our style of play and develop team chemistry.
- All preseason events are voluntary, not required, and open to any student athlete interested in trying out for soccer in the fall.

- Use the schedule to see all of these events and details.

New Freshmen

- Kickarounds are the best way to get connected with the soccer program, meet new people, and be confident walking through the doors of high school for the first time this August.

- The “Welcome to Niwot” BBQ is Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 6:30pm. Come out to meet players and coaches!

New App

- To make sure you are getting important notifications, download the app at www.teamapp.com/app, create an account, and search for Niwot Boys Soccer to join us.

- When signing up, you don’t need to add every detail — just do what’s essential (first and last name, email address).
- The website and public announcements don’t require an account, but notifications do! We will require each player and at least one parent to have an account as we form teams in the fall. Those with an account and no app will still receive our email-level updates, such as this one, and you can always access the calendar with the website.

Tryouts and Registration Reminders

2025 fall tryouts are scheduled for August 11, 12, and 13. You will need to register online first, and that will not open until July. In the meantime, you can plan to get your sports physical and be prepared to submit that important paperwork.

Healthy Habits

Summer means that your sleep schedule might change! Some tips on summer sleep habits:

(1) Go to bed at the same time and get up at the same time every day. Set a schedule for yourself and stick to it!

(2) Avoid caffeine after 2pm. Caffeine can stay in your system for 12 hours!

(3) Keep your phone away from your bed. Blue light interferes with your body’s ability to fall asleep.

(4) Athletes perform better when they get 8-10 hours of sleep!

Fitness

- Soccer requires a good fitness base, and June gives you the time to build on your strengths or improve on your weakness here. You can see a recommended fitness guide in Files.

- Fitness is much more fun when it’s a part of the game and with others, so come to kickarounds and summer training and then add in the recommended individual work.

Ball Work
Make it a goal to get on the ball 20 minutes a day, at least five days a week. With a partner, passing and receiving at all distances and with both feet. Individually passing and receiving off of a wall, working on turns and dribbles with both feet, etc. Build great habits while you have more time in the summer!
